Local Attractions

It’s fair to say that the Best of British is right on your doorstep at Sea Gull Lodge! A google search will provide plenty of food for thought, but here is a glimpse into some of the most popular local attractions to save you looking!
 
The National Trust property at Cotehele, 2.5 miles from the Lodge offers much to interest everyone, with the Mill and House to visit, the quay where you can take a boat ride on the Tamar river or enjoy a delicious lunch and cream tea beside the river. Also from here you can walk around the river head to the picturesque village of Calstock with its famous viaduct, good pubs and scenic railway.
 
For rainy days with the children the Donkey Sanctuary is walking distance from the property, here you will find a large indoor play area for the children to let off steam, donkeys to ride and many other animals to see, plus a cafe.
 
The bustling town of Launceston is not far away with a castle to explore and another scenic railway line to venture into the countryside.
 
Nearby beaches include Talland, where there is a sandy beach at low tide, beach cafe and a lovely coastal walk to Polperro or visit Downderry and Seaton (for a beach stroll, Inn on the shore, beach cafe
and childrens playground). Looe, Portwrinkle, Cawsands and Crafthole are also not far away for beach days. Travel north about 37 miles and you can visit Bude, with the wonderful Summerleaze beach, Boscastle and Tintagel.
 
For Golfing enthusiasts, whether you're a seasoned golfer or are new to the game, at St Mellion Golf Club you'll experience golfing at its best. Set in 450 acres of rolling countryside about 9 miles away.
 
The famous Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project are not far in the car, both are interesting for a visit. The Lost Gardens are a fascinating insight into an unchanged Victorian garden and the Eden Project is well known for its educational English rainforest set in dramatic biomes.
 
From Gunnislake or Calstock catch the scenic railway to Plymouth, travelling through beautiful countryside, via Calstock, over the viaduct and arrive at Plymouth with a short walk to the city centre shops.     
 
Riding stables are within driving distance at Mary Tavy, here you can ride across Dartmoor. Horses and ponies available for people of all ages and abilities. Should you wish to take in the rugged moors from
